THE COURTEENERS - YOU OVERDID IT DOLL

E' arrivato finalmente il momento di parlare del nostro singolo del mese.
You Overdid It Doll, questo il titolo del pezzo, è in uscita il 15 di Febbraio, e precede di una settimana "Falcon", nuovo album dei Mancuniani Courteeners.
I fan del gruppo hanno aperto il 14 di Gennaio una petizione online per far si che questo singolo finisse subito in vetta alle classifiche britanniche.
Non stento a credere che questo sia possibile: il pezzo è bello, orecchiabile al punto giusto e con un video interessante.
La band poi ha dimostrato con il primo album di saperci fare, accattivandosi non solo le simpatie di gran parte di pubblico e critica, ma anche quelle di sua maestà Morrissey, che li ha fortemente voluti come opener nelle numerose date del suo tour inglese.
Liam Fray, cantante del gruppo, ha un look che prende chiara ispirazione da quello dell' omonimo frontman degli Oasis.
Ma le somiglianze tra le due band non finiscono qui.
St. Jude, album del 2007, era infatti un mix perfetto di rimandi alla musica inglese come quella degli Smiths, dei Libertines e degli stessi Oasis. Questo nuovo singolo non sembra essere da meno, ma è più marcatamente pop rispetto al disco precedente: il timbro vocale di Liam sembra leggermente cambiato, il ritornello è assolutamente catchy, e la produzione dell'LP da parte di Ed Buller (ex Pulp e Suede) sembra aver conferito ai suoni del quartetto una buona dose di disco groove che mancava nel disco di debutto.



Dopo aver ascoltato questo pezzo, il nuovo album dei Courteneers si conferma per me uno dei più attesi del 2010.

You Overdid It Doll, is the title of the track, out on February 15th, who precedes by a week "Falcon", the new album by Mancunian Courteeners.
Fans of the group have opened January 14th a petition online to made this single quickly top the charts in Britain.
Isn't hard to believe that this thing is possible: the song is beautiful, catchy at the right point and with an interesting video.
The band, then, showed with the first album to know how to do, trying to capture not only the sympathies of much public and critics, but also of his majesty Morrissey, who took them as openers of his UK tour many dates.
Liam Fray, lead singer, has a look that takes clear inspiration from what's namesake frontman of Oasis.
But the similarities between the two bands do not end there.
St. Jude, album of 2007, was in fact a perfect mix of references to English music such as The Smiths, The Libertines and Oasis themselves. This new single does not appear to be outdone, but is markedly more pop than the previous album: the vocal timbre of Liam seems slightly changed, the chorus is very catchy and the production of the LP by Ed Buller (former Pulp and Suede ) seems to have conferred to the sounds of the quartet a good dose of hard groove that was missing from the debut album.

After listening to this track, the new album Courteneers is confirmed for me as one of the most awaited of 2010.
